This camp is dedicated to everything you need to know about drawing: sketching, shading, perspective, anatomy of humans and animals. It's a great intro to drawing for the beginner teens. Learn to draw everything you wish freely from your imagination!

This camp will teach you:

Sketching & shading. 

Perspective: drawing architecture. 

Representing textures of nature.

Human and animal anatomy.

Gesture drawing.

Anatomy of a human head. 

Portrat. Achieving likeness.

Detailed Schedule

Day1

9:00am-12:00pm.Sketching & shading. Study of small objects. Pencil.

12:30pm-3:30pm. Small still life. Charcoal.


Day 2

Perspective and architecture. Study of a cityscape. Sharpies and pens.

12:30pm-3:30pm. Textured landscape drawing. Pencil/pen.


Day 3

9:00am-12:00pm. Human and animal anatomy overview. Short sketches. Soft pencil.

12:30pm-3:30pm. Study of a human head. Pencil on cardboard.


Day 4

9:00am-12:00pm. White charcoal on black paper.

12:30pm-3:30pm. Black and white watercolor portrait.


Day 5

9:00am-12:00pm. Final project of a choice, material of a choice.

Refund policy:

We are not offering refunds for new purchases. However, full credit towards future bookings or transfer to another camp/class will be offered for any cancellations made up to 24 hrs before the camp or class start.

Frequently asked questions about our camps

What is the teacher-student ratio? The teacher-student ratio is 6 to 1 in the camps for 6-10 year olds, and 7 to 1 in camps for 10-18 year olds. What do students do during art camp? Students explore a variety of creative projects such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media work. Camps focus on building art fundamentals while encouraging creativity and experimentation. My child is 1 year younger than the camp age listed. Can she participate in the camp? In some cases, students who are one year younger than the listed age range may attend if they are especially interested in art and able to comfortably participate in the activities. Please contact us to discuss whether the camp would be a good fit. Do you provide before and after class/camp care? At this time, we do not provide extended care before or after camps. Due to limited space, students should arrive and be picked up according to the camp schedule. Do students need previous art experience? No prior experience is required. Our camps are designed for both beginners and students with some art background, and instructors guide students step by step through each project. Where are your art camps located? Our art camps take place at our Bay Area studios in San Francisco, San Jose, Mountain View, San Rafael, and Walnut Creek. Each location offers small-group instruction and a supportive studio environment. Do you provide extended care? No, we do not provide extended care.
