Students will work and receive feedback on independent, self-directed, short-term and long-term projects. Expert-level manga/comic related tutoring will be provided in a hands-on setting to provide a creative workspace for students to work with a professional comic art teacher on anything they want. Recommended for advanced students who want to take their skills to the next level.
This student-driven drawing art class will teach you:
Drawing people in foreshortening
Developing a unique personal style
Drawing complex scenes in various styles
Working on multi-page comic novels
Working on 2-D animation in Procreate Dreams

All courses are offered at all studios, every 2-4 months. If you do not see a session scheduled in a studio near you, please put yourself on the waiting list for the course and location you are interested in. You will receive a notification the moment the course is added to the system.

Frequently asked questions about adult classes:
I am going to miss 1-2 classes. How do I make them up? Almost every student misses classes now and then. To arrange a make up, please email your studio up to 5 days in advance, we do not allow drop ins. - We offer up to 3 make ups per course/semester (1 make up for short 5-6 weeks courses) - Make ups are not guaranteed, but we will try our best. - No make ups can be scheduled after missed class. - A make up can not be rescheduled. Do I need to purchase materials? We provide the materials for the in-studio classes, there is no need to bring anything. However, it might be a good idea to purchase some art materials for practice at home. Online students neeed to purchase materials for their classes.
Refund Policy:
We are not offering refunds for new purchases. However, full credit towards future bookings or transfer to another camp/class will be offered for any cancellations made up to 24 hrs before the camp or class start.

I've been taking adult drawing and painting classes at the Art School of SF Bay San Francisco for almost a year now, running the gamut from watercolor to acrylic to oil painting to manga drawing to figure drawing. My time here has been nothing short of incredible (and I still plan to take more classes as there's always so much more to learn); in every course I've taken, I've been guided by friendly and passionate teachers who genuinely care about their students and helping them to improve, and who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with everyone every class. Austin, Cody, Hana, Hannah, and Katerina are all amazing and I've learned so much from all of them. However, I want to give an especial shout-out to Austin for really helping me to grow creatively; every manga art class, he brings an extraordinary love for the craft and even art as a lifestyle that has been absolutely invaluable in guiding me on my artistic journey, and through him I've been exposed to many amazing artists I didn't know of before (like Yoh Yoshinari, Joe Mad, Tsutomu Nihei, and Kim Jung Gi, among many many others). His passion for art reminds me of why I draw and inspires me to keep going, and I owe so much to him and his teaching.
I do also want to mention that the space itself is clean and well outfitted, equipped, and decorated, so it's a very cozy and comfortable place. The school provides any needed supplies, like watercolor palettes, oil and acrylic paints, canvases, and bristol paper, which is very convenient for anyone just getting off of work for an evening class. I absolutely love this place and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their art skills or to just have fun making art.
I took a few classes at the Art School of SF Bay, including Key Elements and Academic Drawing with Andrew. The school offers a supportive and inspiring environment for artists of all levels, and the classes are well-structured to help you grow. Andrew is an understanding and encouraging teacher, and the lessons not only helped me improve as an artist but also reignited my joy in creating. After just a few sessions, I decided to sign up for Human Anatomy and Open Studio, which I am currently attending. I would highly recommend the Art School of SF Bay and Andrew to anyone looking to develop their skills and passion for art.
