From Antiquity to Realism to Contemporary Art - the evolution of European art in a nutshell. Students will draw inspiration from European masterpieces and create original artworks in a selected style.

This camp will teach you:

  • Culture of various parts of Europe

  • Basics of working with acrylics, watercolor, clay

  • Understanding style guidelines and following them

  • Simplified anatomy of humans and animals

  • Symmetry

  • Proportions

  • Composition

Detailed Schedule

Day 1

Antiquity:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Ancient Egypt. Canon of human proportions. Drawing a person Egyptian style. Acrylics on Cardboard.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Ancient Greece & Rome: Greek Gods and Monsters. Designing a Greek plate / vase.


Day 2

Middle Ages:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Princess, Knight, and Dragon. Painting on a stained Glass.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Sculpting a Troll or a Gargoyle.


Day 3

Italian Renaissance:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Profile portraits of renaissance.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Micheleangelo: Drawing a muscular figure


Day 4

Modern art:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. French impressionism. Painting an impressionistic landscape.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. German experiments with form (Kandinsky / Bauhaus): abstract art/ design (student’s choice).


Day 5

Contemporary:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. British Literature: Painting a scene from the Harry Potter / Tolkien / Narnia books.

12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Absurdist sculpture.

Refund policy:

We are not offering refunds for new purchases. However, full credit towards future bookings or transfer to another camp/class will be offered for any cancellations made up to 24 hrs before the camp or class start.

Frequently asked questions about our camps

What is the teacher-student ratio? The teacher-student ratio is 6 to 1 in the camps for 6-10 year olds, and 7 to 1 in camps for 10-18 year olds. My child is 1 year younger than the camp age listed. Can she participate in the camp? Student 1 year younger than the camp age listed can attend the camp if the child is really into art in general and the camp topic in particular. Do you provide before and after class/camp care? Our school does not provide extended child care before and after classes. Due to limited space, please bring the kids only for specific time frame according to the class schedule you are registered for. Do you provide extended care? No, we do not provide extended care.
