Roberto Gonzalez is an Oakland-based artist and a founder of The Last Ones Collective - a space for low income artists of color to gather, receive mentorship, development and a space to create. His work comes from a space of personal experience from his inner city chicano-indigenous cultural heritage.
His visual work originates through a
youthful expression in street arts and has transitioned into fine art work of oil on canvas and experimentation with 3D sculpture, technology and Ai generative pieces. In addition to his work, and mentoring, Roberto creates professional branding, packaging, murals and visual identities for businesses in his community.
Students' reviews:
I just completed a 13 week course called Key Elements of Fine Arts taught by Roberto. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2hr sessions every Sunday afternoon and helped me maintain my focus as I venture into a new hobby. What I enjoyed the most about my Sunday classes were 2hrs away from my phone, without doomscrolling. Roberto (also goes by Robert) is a wonderful teacher and extremely talented. He is able to take complex art topics and reduce it to easily manageable bit sized pieces of information. He has a great playlist that he plays during class and great sense of humor. We went over various types of art, styles, formats, and colors. I’m pleased with my progress over the 13 weeks and the quality of instruction. I plan to take more classes in the Fall and Winter.
Art School of SF Bay is great. You will be creating masterpieces under their instruction, no matter what level you come with. And they are great for adult and for kids of all ages. Roberto at the walnut creek location was an excellent adult instructor - I came there for a landscape workshop.
