3D MODELING FOR KIDS
online art camp for kids 8-12 years old
June 7-11, June 21-25
This camp will be held ONLINE via ZOOM video conference. Students will need access to a computer / tablet / phone with internet connection and zoom.us. Art materials will be available for pick up from the studio few days before the start of the camp (dates and details will be provided).
With 3D printers becoming widely available for home use, this camp is great for the new generation of creators! Imaging things, model them in 3d and print - we will open a door into new works of creativity and craftsmanship. Students will learn how to use 3d modeling software (Maya) and will make few models ready to print.
You will need a laptop or computer capable to run Autodesk Maya and a version of Maya software.
- Explore 3D modeling tools
- Select vertex, edges, faces and apply
- Going through settings and options
- Build a lego block based on a reference
- Rules for polygonal modeling. Edit mesh tools.
- Use Append to polygon. Split polygon. Merge vertex. Insert edge loop. Select tools. Normal reverse
- Build a building based on a reference.
- Build a character based on students' sketches.
Make a snowman (make a ball, copy, scale, repeat, make a cone, make two sticks for hands, put it all together.
Make a pendant (beads)
Make a ring (circle + gemstone of basic shape)
Make a brush holder (learn to cut shapes out of the bigger shape)
Make a chibi
Make a toy animal
Make a favorite character as a keychain (several classes long project)
Make a flower in a pot
Make a robot
Make a spaceship
We are not offering refunds for new purchases. However, full credit towards future bookings or transfer to another camp/class will be offered for any cancellations made up to 24 hrs before the camp or class start.
If camp or class is cancelled due to gathering restrictions or shelter in place order placed by state or county authorities, similar online camp/class will be held instead. Students can cancel their registration if online learning does not work for them, with the full credit towards future in person camp/class.
